Seoul, Korea – November 13, 2008 - Korea¡¯s leading fabless semiconductor manufacturer Core Logic (CEO Ki Soo Hwang, www.corelogic.co.kr) announced that sales increased by 59.8 percent compared to the previous quarter in Q3 2008 to reach 31.9 billion won. In addition, a surplus of 1.7 billion won was achieved in operating profit and 4.7 billion won in net profit. This is a 353.1 percent and 166.3 percent increase compared to the previous quarter, respectively.
The main reason for volume increase in Q3 was increased demand for the exclusive Multimedia Application Processor (MAP) for music phones supplied to major domestic customers. Also, the net profit was improved through exchange gains, corporate tax refunds, and interest income.
The growth slowed slightly compared to the previous quarter in Q3, but the results were favorable compared to that of Q2, and demand is continuously increasing with the mid and high-end multimedia phone market settling.
In Q4 Core Logic will introduce a new handset product and digital consumer product, and through its new launches plans to execute aggressive marketing and will improve its business environment for 2009.
