Core Logic appoints new CEO Kwang Pyuk Suh

 

 

Seoul, Korea - March 9, 2009 - Korea¡¯s leading fabless semiconductor manufacturer Core Logic (048870, www.corelogic.co.kr) announced today(9th) that it nominated former Samsung Electronics Vice President Kwang Pyuk Suh as its new Chief Executive Officer.

New Core Logic CEO Kwang Pyuk Suh began his career at global chipmaker Intel and worked his way up to becoming the Vice President of Samsung System LSI after joining Samsung Semiconductor. Suh is known as one of the key people that built the success of the Korean memory chip and SoC industry.

Core Logic plans to establish a new management structure that can raise its market competitiveness as well as bring about innovation in its technology development and overall management through the appointment of its new CEO. In particular, amidst the overall recession in the IT industry due to the global economic slowdown, Core Logic hopes to improve its sales and establish a steady growth engine through the passion for advanced technology, management experience, and leadership of its new captain.

Meanwhile, predecessor Ki Soo Hwang remarked, ¡°for the past 12 years Core Logic has grown remarkably by creating a fabless success story in Korea. I¡¯m proud to have completed my role as the founder of the company.¡± ¡°Now is the time to prepare for the second wave of history making by establishing a professional management system. New CEO Kwang Pyuk Suh is the most suitable person to lead Core Logic ahead,¡± said Hwang.

¡°For the past 12 years Core Logic has led the Korean fabless semiconductor industry with its excellent technology and services. Now Core Logic must focus on new product development and increase its sales with its excellent infrastructure, and I will strive to build Core Logic¡¯s second success story in SoC,¡± vowed new CEO Kwang Pyuk Suh.

Former CEO Ki Soo Hwang will continue to provide support to Core Logic management as a full-time advisor, and will also dedicate his time to government policy recommendations and activities for the overall development of the fabless semiconductor industry as a key representative of the industry.

New CEO Kwang Pyuk Suh will officially take office after approval at the Core Logic general meeting of shareholders in March.
