Seoul, Korea - September 8, 2009 -
Korea¡¯s leading fabless semiconductor manufacturer Core Logic (048870,
www.corelogic.co.kr) released its new CLM7700 solution today (September 8th). This product is an Application Processor (AP) targeting the digital consumer market. In accordance with the multifunctional convergence trend, Core Logic topped this chip with various multimedia functions and performance to target the Korean and Chinese navigation market which spotlights high performance multifunctional digital products.

The camera function supports up to 8 megapixel still images and provides D1 video resolution which enables clear compressed images making this unit applicable to high quality black box applications. In addition, 3D function is offered to enable rear view camera which compensates for visual distortion. Furthermore, the TTS (Text to Speech) function used in the fast growing Hi-Pass market can be included to provide detailed voice support for direction giving and traffic information.

The CLM7700 adopts ARM11 and an exclusive MPEG, 3D hardware accelerator, and supports up to 700~800MHz operating frequency which enables flexible operation of high performance navigation functions requiring an average of 600MHz~1GH support. In addition, various mobile TV modules such as T-DMB, CMMB, and DVB-T can be supported to make possible worldwide mobile TV reception. Furthermore, with its 3D graphic map which supports up to 8M polygons/sec, this chip is more than equipped with the performance to satisfy the needs of customers longing for the next generation PND.

Another characteristic of this solution is that the development toolkit for customers to directly conduct serial production and an SDK (Software Development Kit) for 3D graphics is provided at the same time because the solution provides an integrated hardware and software platform. This allows customers to reduce product lead time and helps them achieve greater convenience in development.

¡°The consumer products business which has been focused in China is now expanding into the Korean market. In particular, the Korean consumer devices market requires a high standard of functions and specifications, so we believe the CLM7700 will fair well in this market,¡± said Core Logic CEO Gwang Byeok Seo.
